Golfers and animal lovers alike are invited to hit the greens for a great cause at the upcoming fifth annual Safe Haven Humane Society golf outing fundraiser. This exciting event will take place on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at noon at Woodbine Bend Golf Course.
Safe Haven is a non-profit, no-kill shelter for dogs and cats and is the only humane society in Jo Daviess County. Proceeds from this annual fundraiser will go directly toward supporting the shelter’s mission of providing a haven and treatment for adoptable cats and dogs, place them in suitable homes, increase awareness of the humane treatment of animals and promote spay and neuter programs to reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Jo Daviess County. Safe Haven supports our community with distribution of free food and supplies for cats and dogs at designated times at the shelter and delivers free pet food to five local food pantries.
“This event is a fantastic way to enjoy a day of golf while making a real difference for our furry friends,” said Dave Kizior, Treasurer and Director of Safe Haven. “Every dollar raised helps provide care for pets who deserve a second chance.”
The tournament will feature an 18-hole scramble format, with check-in beginning at 11:00 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon. Participants can enjoy contests such as Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, and a Hole-in-One Challenge with exciting prizes. Following the tournament, a dinner and awards ceremony will take place, including a silent auction featuring items donated by local businesses.
The cost to participate is $100 per golfer or $400 for a foursome, which includes greens fees, a cart, dinner, and a gift bag. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses looking to support the cause while gaining community recognition.
Not a golfer? No problem! Spectators and animal lovers can still participate by attending the dinner at a cost of $40, bidding in the silent auction, or making a direct donation to Safe Haven.
