So You Want To Adopt Your New Best Friend

Safe Haven Humane Society will consider adoptive families from anywhere as long as they are willing to travel to our location to pick up the pet. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the animal's background and your family's needs. Every animal is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right animal with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.

If you are willing to wait for the right animal to be matched to you,
you are an ideal candidate for Safe Haven Humane Society. As our success rate proves, these precious animals are well worth the wait.

OUR PROCESS

1

Apply

We appreciate you wanting to bring a animal into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.

2

Review

We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.

3

Approval Process

Once your application review is complete, a Safe Haven Humane Society staff member will contact you to discuss all-things pet. During the conversation, we will address any potential concerns for the animal that the applicant may not have considered.

4

Finding Your Pet

Once approved to adopt, we will set up an appointment for the adopters to come to the shelter and meet the pets currently in our care who may be a good fit for you and your family.

Additional Information

  • We will not discuss adoption details regarding any particular animal if you have not yet applied to adopt.
  • Safe Haven Humane Society is a 100% non-profit organization. Please be patient with us…the animals need our time too.
  • All adult animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all shots prior to adoption. Cats and dogs under 6 months of age will need to be sterilized once old enough. We require adopters to sign an addendum stating that they will get the kitten or puppy to a veterinary clinic for the proceedure when they are of age.
  • Adoption fees range from $75 to $300, based on the age and health of each individual animal.
